ShortKit for Publishers

•6 min read

We're immense believers in the power of journalism and the work that publishers do to keep the world informed. At our core, we're a video infrastructure company, but we set out to build a platform specifically to empower newsrooms and support their video needs.

CMS Integrations

ShortKit integrates with the leading content management systems out of the box. For newsrooms running custom CMS infrastructure, we expose REST APIs that make it easy to push and pull content programmatically. However your content is organized today, ShortKit can connect to it.

We also support linking short-form videos to their corresponding long-form articles. When a viewer watches a clip and wants to go deeper, that connection is already there, routing them directly to the full piece. It is a small thing that makes the whole content ecosystem feel intentional.

Everywhere Your Audience Is

ShortKit started as a vertical video feed product, and that is still the core. But publishers need to reach audiences across their native mobile apps, mobile web, and desktop web, and the format requirements are different in each context.

We support embedded carousels and single-player experiences alongside vertical feeds, so publishers can put short-form video into article previews, section fronts, homepages, and wherever else their readers show up. A built-in content management layer lets teams create and manage feeds, carousels, and players, and update them without pulling in engineering every time.

Ad Revenue

Short-form video commands higher CPMs, but only when the experience is actually good. We built ShortKit to deliver the kind of smooth, high-quality video experience that keeps viewers watching, because that is what drives the completion rates advertisers care about.

ShortKit integrates with Google Ad Manager and Freestar for native ad insertion. Publishers keep full control over their inventory and benefit directly from the engagement their content earns.

More Content Formats

ShortKit also supports photo carousels and content submission flows, so newsrooms have more ways to package and surface what they are producing. One platform, multiple formats, without the overhead of maintaining separate systems for each.

Content Creation Tools

We include tools to help newsrooms transform existing content into short-form clips, which lowers the barrier to building a consistent video presence. The goal is to fit into how a newsroom already works, not add a whole new layer of production overhead on top of it.
